Henley pix, at last!
Today during morning break I dumped my coke into the bag from which I was knitting. Am grateful it was the cotton Henley and not the new soy wool - I can wash the cotton. Hope coke spotlets come out.
So anyway, Wednesday night they brought unit 3 down and intended to bring it back up Saturday, which means it was likely we'd have Saturday and Sunday off. They don't like contract employees around when bringing the unit up, too much "boiler gases" and other unmentionables. Therefore I was all psyched to go home after work today. Packed my stuff in the van at 5AM so I could just go straight there from work without coming back to the apartment first.
I mean, I hate to lose the money a ten-hour overtime day means, but it's been four weeks since I've been home, and I'm way past ready to go. Then "they" decided the EPA bunch who's been running air-quality tests in the precip needs twice as much power as we've provided, and so we'll be working tomorrow. Possibly Sunday too.
On the one hand there's money, on the other there's time off. Hell, I'd already decided to work every available hour between July 4th and Labor Day, so I was resigned to not going home for two months, but it's cruel to hold out the two-day-weekend tidbit then snatch it back like that.
So, here's Henley progress. I can't see coke spots, can you?

projects update
Put sock #1 on hold while knitting #2 to the same point. The second in a pair (despite rumors of the dreaded Second Sock Syndrome) seems to always go faster for me (if I made notes), because I made notes and therefore follow them (unless I didn't make notes) instead of having to figure out everything a second time. All of which wouldn't matter if I could just commit to following a pattern as written, but that's never happened yet and I'm not holding out hope that it ever will.
But this time I made notes, and I'm zipping right along: Monday knit the cuff and Tuesday (which would be today, for a couple hours yet) knit halfway up the first pattern repeat, which is to say about 16 rows, same as the cuff.
What on earth is it with me and these convoluted sentences today?
My annoying neighbor has done a few things just to annoy me already this week, and when my glance fell on my CD collection this evening I suddenly realized I can be pretty darn annoying myself if I put just a little effort into it (and so I was), only to find out I've become so used to listening to only the sounds of traffic and birds that it's hard to concentrate on needle art with music playing. I'll bet reading will prove to be just as difficult. Sigh.
Nevertheless I got a few more rows done on the rug, and will make an effort to send some phone-pix tomorrow.

Honestly, I don't see the appeal in these eyelash-yarn scarves, but if it's gonna make someone happy I'll knit her one or two.

This is a hard pattern to lay aside. I like cables anyway, and these triple twists are just too cool. I'd love a whole sweater in this pattern. It'd be stretchy.

Four rows into the cuff but I'm sleepy. The pattern is called Rattlesnake Creek. I am hoping to make these for my dad, and hopefully the Berlin Muster fit Mom.

After a late start and at least three bad attempts before finally "getting" the pattern, I'm 2/3 of the way down the leg of sock 1. I started with 64 stitches on size 1 needles, now have reduced to 60 sts on size 0 so I don't end up with baggy ankles.

Yvonne's double flower dishcloth
I saw on Ravelry that one of my friends had queued this pattern. Just happened to have the cloth with me (in Charleston). This was one of my first knits following a pattern, and it was amazingly easy for the beginner I was then.
