It's very pretty outside; the apple tree to my left (east) has tiny leaves and at least one pink flower; I can see a bunch of yellow dandelion heads to the south, toward the garden. There's a breeze, and the 60' pine by the barn is swaying (and now the shorter trees are, as well). A little while ago there were eight goldfinches on the feeder to my right (southwest). There only seems to be room for seven, and the eighth was continuously knocking off another, who then --to my reckoning-- became the eighth.
The sun comes out, then there's a rain shower. During the last sunny hour I planted all the new herbs in a raised bed I made along the south side of the garage. I've turned the compost (found some humongous nightcrawlers and lots of plain garden-variety (heh!) earthworms) and hauled two wheelbarrowloads of the good rich compost dirt to the garage wall, where I filled a channel I'd made with the great big brickhouse bricks we've had laying there since before time began.
