yard work

It's 72 degrees outside, and I'm wringing wet.

Spent the last hour chopping weeds out of the fencerow, along the house by the main bathroom --the east corner-- and along the driveway fence from the apple trees to the forsythia. Chopping isn't really the right word; I used the loppers to get rid of weeds that were turning into trees (maybe sumac) and briars (maybe blackberry) that had gone on long enough. The area by the bathroom is about 6' x 6', sheltered by the house on two sides, by a wire fence on a third. The open side faces east, and in a few weeks will be in shade, once another old apple tree leafs out. That tree had a bluejay nest last year, and I made a baffle of chickenwire around the trunk to keep the cats from the nest.

But anyway.

I was wondering what to put in that 6' x 6' area --all the plants I brought home from Lowe's last night have a "full sun" designation (dwarf coreopsis, oregano, basil, chives, lavender, thyme, and rosemary)-- and then while filling my second (and last) wheelbarrow-load near the forsythia I saw a branch I'd apparently mowed over night before last. It was laying loose, but had roots forming about a third of the way up its 10' length. I guess I'll learn how forsythia does in the shade, 'cause it's planted there now.

Here's a picture of the momma plant, which four years ago was just a stick.

Anyway, it's 72 degrees, and I'm wondering if that's already too hot for that little bit of work I did, how am I going to feel in June?
