politics as usual

It's a pretty, sunny day. The temp is in the teens, but I got in firewood (just from the back porch) while wearing just my thick bathrobe, and barefoot. Only my feet got chilled, but since my 'puter sits in the stove room, they warmed back up pretty quickly. :O)

Got a discouraged email from my sis-in-law, --whose husband's employer is closing up shop-- for a change she's seeing the world through my liberal eyes. Here's part of my answer:

"...can be fixed; by a real change in government like electing a populist government. Whatever, we need some serious change. I guess the first step is campaign finance reform.

"Maybe the FIRST step is real information dissemination. I've thought about doing some serious research, finding out how EVERY politician voted on EVERY issue, then when elections come up publishing (like in the local newspaper) my findings on everyone on the docket.

"I think it's not that the voters don't care, they just aren't aware, and it's too hard, too confusing, to find out everything that's important about candidates. The news media, FOX biased in one direction and NPR in the other, certainly doesn't help."

Well, that's enough politics for one post. I intended this to be a knitting blog (LOL), after all!
