using up scraps & novelty

made a catnip mouse out of some of the scrap novelty yarn; still need to sew the seam & stuff it

began B-iL D's scarf in Thick'n'Quick. I'm making up the pattern as I go. So far it looks like this:

CO 13 on US#15 needle

Row 1: slip 1 k-wise, k 11, k1 tbl

Row 2-10 repeat row 1

Row 11: slip 1 k-wise, k1 (k3 p3 k3) k1, k1 tbl
Row 12: slip 1 k-wise, k1 (p3 k3 p3) k1, k1 tbl

repeat rows 11 & 12 10x (or so - I made the first block as long as the scarf is wide) then:

Row 13: slip 1 k-wise, k1 (p3 k3 p3) k1, k1 tbl
Row 14: slip 1 k-wise, k1 (k3 p3 k3) k1, k1 tbl

repeat rows 13 & 14 10x or so...

thus reversing the pattern and making an elongated checked look. Breaks the monotony of garter stitch (which I hate to do)

I plan to end the scarf with 10 rows in (ugh) garter stitch.
