More car trouble

Yesterday when I got to work Astro's heater was still blowing cold air. As soon as I shut the van off white smoke began rolling out from under the hood, and I smelled melting rubber(melting rubber with white smoke? Does not compute). I thought, "I do not want to deal with this right now, it's no joke 8 degrees F right now," so I went on in to work and mentioned the situation to the guys at break time. General concensus is my thermostat is stuck closed and the weather is all that kept the van from overheating. More later.
