headache

I've finally gotten some relief from a headache I've had for more than a day. Haven't had headaches like this since I quit smoking... Yesterday I saw Dr. BB for a "checkup" which th'Mr set up, since I'm unlikely to do this sort of thing myself. I'd been feeling just vaguely "bad" for some time now, and he kept telling me to go see the doctor, and finally I told him if he'd make me an appointment I'd keep it. So. She scheduled an MRI for later this month but said most likely it's all just about my body being used to having estrogen these past 45 years or so, and now missing it. The headache got worse in the afternoon and evening, and was raging so badly this morning that I canceled my dental appointment, and spent most of the day in bed. I phoned Dr. BB's office asking what I should do about it, since neither aspirin nor rest nor caffeine nor decongestant nasal spray nor benadryl seemed to touch it, and finally at 3:30 this afternoon her office called back and suggested I try Excedrin Migraine, and if that didn't work she'd "call in" something. Th'Mr picked up some Foodlion Migraine , which has the same ingredients as the Excedrin at half the price. It seems to have helped a little, but as, according to the label, I'm only allowed one two-caplet dose in 24 hours, we'll see how effective it is in the long run. The little bit of reprieve is a real relief, already.
