With the aid of a few webpages, yesterday I taught myself toe-up sock construction. I like Judy's magic cast on (which I remember using once before -- not often enough to remember without refreshing) much better than short-row. I did both yesterday, on scrap acrylic. Now I'm ready to begin a pair on good sock yarn. This week I got a package from discontinuedbrandnameyarns.com ... their house labeled "mill ends" looks just like my one twist of Cherry Tree Hill. Last night during the movie, and yesterday during the hospital experience, I got quite a bit done on the legs of the soldier socks (after which I'll have to take a break and work with bright colors).
