Socks for Soldiers

I'd cast this first sock on once before, but must have gotten too involved in the movie I was watching, because when it was over I discovered, way down towards the beginning of the cuff, a place where I'd knit when I should have purled, and vice versa, for six or eight stitches.

Now, I've just recently gotten reading glasses, and I'm fairly new to fingering weight yarn, and this is black yarn on US #0 needles, so to save aggravation (and probably time, too) I just frogged back to the beginning and cast on again.

That was Friday night. Last night I astonished myself by finishing the first cuff:

Honestly, that's the longest cuff I've ever knit. Four inches of 2x2 ribbing on #0 is about 40 rows, in black... I know, "'whaah,' and shut up already," ;)

I'm quite tickled with it, and have knit a few rows of the leg and then cast on the second sock.
