Winston, Raleigh (and Grrrl) survived their damn-near two weeks at the vet while we had a dandy vacation :) only marred by worry about the animals. Got home Friday noonish, picked up the three that had been boarded (almost $300 for that, plus another almost $100 for cat-flea-dope, ouch), settled back into the normal routine. Dr. Ralph gave me another bottle of kitty vitamins and said Winston hadn't got back as much appetite as he'd hoped, not fast enough anyway.
Winston did look pretty skinny, and Raleigh, though seeming to be his normal weight, looked a bit dull-furred and scruffy.
I don't know how much exercise they get while boarded; I think the dogs have a "run" attached to their cages, but even of that I'm not positive and about the cats I don't know at all. So Friday afternoon Winston & I took a walk in the woods, up to the first turn in the tractor road. I carried him now and then, but each time after just a few minutes he was ready to get down and walk on his own.
Saturday Winston & Shorty & I walked in the woods, up the first steep road the loggers made when we had the property timbered in 2005. He's getting the vitamin dropperful twice a day. Seems to be eating okay; maybe it was stress over being in an unfamiliar place for eleven days that had him off his feed. Anyway, the walks are my idea of an appetite stimulant. Saturday he weighed 10 pounds, Sunday 10.6. I plan to monitor this closely.
Sapphire has an appointment tomorrow at 5PM, for a "general checkup" and feleuk test.
